Ranger Challenge
Hosted in the Fall semester at Fort McCoy, WI, students from Stout compete against ROTC programs from Wisconsin and Michigan. This grueling event tests all participants’ ability to work as a team, complete military skills challenges, and challenge themselves through a very physically demanding 36 hour long event. Participating in Ranger Challenge is a great way to meet your peers and get to know the ROTC program. Our team begins practice in late August, so interested students should contact the program before arriving on campus.
German Armed Forces Military Proficiency Badge
Students compete to earn the German Army’s fitness badge, which is a foreign badge they can wear on their Class A dress uniform for their entire career.
Field Training Exercises
We host one weekend FTX each semester. The focus of these events is to reinforce individual and small unit skills and teach students how to operate in an austere environment over an extended period of time.
Air Assault School
U.S. Army Air Assault School is a 10-day course designed to prepare Soldiers for insertion, evacuation, and pathfinder missions that call for the use of multipurpose transportation and assault helicopters. Air Assault training focuses on the mastery of rappelling techniques and sling load procedures, skills that involve intense concentration and a commitment to safety and preparation
Airborne School
This three-week course, also known as Basic Airborne Course, teaches Soldiers the techniques involved in parachuting from airplanes and landing safely. The final test includes a non-assisted jump. The purpose of the BAC is to qualify the volunteer in the use of the parachute as a means of combat deployment and to develop leadership, self-confidence, and an aggressive spirit through mental and physical conditioning.
Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency training
Students travel to an allied nation to train with foreign militaries. Our students have done everything from training with Guatemalan Cadets to conducting humanitarian missions in Madagascar.
