New First-Year Students
For first-time incoming students coming to UW-Stout. First choose which semester you'll be arriving on campus:
Upon Admission | Celebrate!!! #FutureBlueDevil, #StoutProud, #CollegeBound Activate Your UW-Stout Microsoft Account: Activating your UW-Stout Microsoft account will allow you to log in to various technology platforms with your universal login credentials. This will also enable your UW-Stout email which will be the official contact method for UW-Stout correspondence - so check your email regularly. Review & Complete Your Housing Reservation: After activating your UW-Stout Microsoft account, University Housing will send you an email and mail you a Life@Stout booklet. Follow the online process to sign your contract and pay your $125 housing prepayment to reserve your residence hall space. Room selection times are based on the date you sign your contract and pay your prepayment. The earlier you sign, the earlier your room selection time will be.

February 15 | Priority Deadline for FAFSA: To be eligible for financial need-based scholarships through the Stout Foundation Scholarship Application, you must have a FAFSA on file by this date. |
Early March | FYRO Invitations Arrive: Check your UW-Stout email for Registration and Orientation information. Sign up for your date! Complete Roommate Questionnaire: Check your UW-Stout email for your Housing roommate questionnaire and information to prepare you for room and dining selection in June. Please follow the directions sent from University Housing to complete this through the Housing Gateway. Minnesota Reciprocity Application Opens: Minnesota residents must register for reciprocity. |
March 15 | Registration for Online UW Placement Testing Opens: Complete testing at least one week prior to your First-Year Registration & Orientation date. |
June | First-Year Registration & Orientation: Attend your First-Year Registration and Orientation date that you registered for! Housing Information Arrives: Check your UW-Stout email for room selection directions, and how to review your roommate information and residence hall assignment. Please follow directions sent by University Housing to know your room selection date/time and steps to choose and review your room selection. Sign the Student Account Contract: You must complete this step prior to registering for classes. (This step is required for Fall and Spring terms but not for Winterm or Summer enrollment). Request Final Official Transcripts: Be sure to request final high school transcripts showing your graduation date, and have college/university transcripts sent to the UW-Stout Admissions Office. |

August | Set up your move-in process. You'll select a date and time during move-in week to move into your residence hall and set-up your room. Sign Master Promissory Notes: If taking out student loan(s), sign Master Promissory Notes (MPN) online prior to beginning classes (Access Stout). |
Mid-August | View Your Tuition Bill in Access Stout: You will receive email notification to your UW-Stout email when your tuition bill is ready to view. View tuition due dates and authorize a parent or guest user on your account. |
Late August | Move-in Week: Move into your residence hall on the day and time you signed up for. You can stay on-campus after your move-in time but most students leave and return for orientation.

First week of September | Week One Orientation: Make friends and have a blast during Week One Orientation!

Wednesday after Labor Day | First Day of Classes: Classes for the semester officially begin!
