Federal Work Study
Work study is a need-based financial aid award based on information submitted on the FAFSA application. Call the Financial Aid Office to check your eligibility.

State Payroll
On-campus jobs open to all degree-seeking students, no financial aid or FAFSA needed.
- Once you are hired, a work schedule is developed with your employer to fit best with your class schedule, possibly including nights and weekends.

Graduate Assistantships
Graduate Assistantships (GAs) are paid positions at UW-Stout where you also have the opportunity to gain valuable professional experience.
- You are eligible for a GA position if you meet all of the following criteria: admitted to a graduate degree program (dual-level and non-degree seeking students are not eligible), enrolled in at least six graduate credits each term, and maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 each term.
- GAs do not include a tuition waiver. However, non-resident students who hold at least a 0.33 FTE position are not charged the non-resident portion of tuition.
- GAs are considered a form of financial aid
Grow, Persist, Succeed (GPS) Program
The GPS program is a student-focused, skill-building program aimed at developing career readiness competencies through on-campus positions.
- A paycheck is disbursed every two weeks for the hours worked.
- Positions are open to first-year, second-year, and transfer students.
- Program is managed by the Career Services Office.
