Hey, I’m Ben! I’m born and raised in the Milwaukee area, growing up just west of the City. Currently, I live in Shorewood, just a stones throw from Milwaukee. You can catch me a lot at the Colectivo on Oakland Ave! I’m a UW System grad, and went to college in Western Wisconsin. The western side of the state, and Menomonie, truly feel like a home away from home. It’s tough to get me to stop talking about all the great things UW-Stout and Menomonie have to offer!
Advice for a new student:
Get involved!! Almost all of our clubs will be at the Backyard Bash at the beginning of the Fall semester. Check out a few you’re interested in, sign up, and really get ingrained into the Stout community.
College Major/Minor:
I was a Journalism Major (emphasis print) with a History minor
Why did you choose your major?
I came into college Undecided. When I took Journalism 101, it instantly clicked that it was something I enjoyed and looked forward to. Chatting with different people, building relationships, and reporting on news stories and sports was something I couldn’t get enough of.
What do you love most about UW-Stout?
The people and the passion! Stout graduates are some of the most passionate alumni you will ever meet. Even on campus, current students, faculty, and staff are some of the best that the state has to offer.
My favorite thing to do in Menomonie is…
Get outside and exercise! Menomonie has no shortage of beauty. From the river, to Lake Menomin, to the Red Cedar State Trail. There’s no shortage of places to get outside and enjoy the stunning beauty of the city and the region.
A random fact about me...
I won a Marathon once, so that was pretty cool. I do a lot of running, so locally in Milwaukee you can catch me on Lake Drive or in some of our state parks!
