The public is invited to attend a two-part University of Wisconsin-Stout book club that will discuss the new campus history, “An Idea Comes of Age: UW-Stout, 1891-2016.”
The book’s author, Jerome Poling, assistant communications director, and Chancellor Bob Meyer will talk about the book from noon to 1 p.m. on consecutive Tuesdays, April 25 and May 2. The sessions will be held at the Fourth Floor Window Gallery of the Robert S. Swanson Library and Learning Center.
Each session will cover half of the book. Participants are welcome to register for one or both sessions, and registration is strongly encouraged.
The book is the first full-length history of UW-Stout, chronicling 125 years from its founding by James Huff Stout as the private Stout Manual Training School to eventually becoming a state-owned university and part of the UW System.
Discounted copies of the book are available at the Stoutfitters apparel and bookstore in the Memorial Student Center. It’s also available at the Seattle Book Company, on Amazon, at Bookends on Main in Menomonie and at Volume One’s Local Store in Eau Claire.
