Associate Professor of Art and Design History at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He teaches and conducts research on subjects at the intersection of the history of art, design, interactive media and film. Williams is the author of the video game history textbook, History of Digital Games: Developments in Art, Design and Interaction.

He served as a design consultant for the Minnesota History Center’s augmented reality educational games that accompany the “Minnesota’s Greatest Generation” exhibit. He also facilitated the opening of the Gaming and Digital Innovation Lab at UW-Stout which houses 40 years of playable video game history.
