In addition, she oversees clinical field experiences, coordinating partnerships with PK–12 schools to provide authentic, hands-on learning opportunities for aspiring teachers.
Before joining UW–Stout, Amanda dedicated 23 years to teaching Family and Consumer Sciences at the middle and high school levels across Wisconsin. Her extensive classroom experience gave her deep insight into student learning, curriculum innovation, and the evolving needs of today’s educators. During her tenure in PK–12 education, she developed and taught a wide variety of Family and Consumer Sciences courses, mentored new teachers, and actively contributed to school improvement initiatives. These experiences fueled her passion for preparing the next generation of educators and inspired her transition into higher education.
Amanda’s professional interests include curriculum design in Career and Technical Education (CTE), effective instructional strategies, and the integration of experiential learning into teacher preparation programs. She is particularly committed to bridging the gap between theory and practice, ensuring that UW–Stout graduates enter the teaching profession confident, well-prepared, and equipped to make a meaningful impact in their own classrooms.
Outside of her academic work, Amanda enjoys spending time outdoors and engaging in hobbies that reflect her Family and Consumer Sciences background. She is an avid gardener, baker, and sewer, and she also enjoys kayaking and time with family and friends.
