Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

1. Student Status - Applicants must be either:

A graduating high school senior, or a current full-time college student.

Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll full-time at an accredited 

college, university, or trade school.

2. Residency: Applicants must reside in the state of Minnesota or Western Wisconsin.

3. Parent/Guardian Occupation Requirements

Each applicant must have a parent or legal guardian who meets the following criteria:

Employed full-time in a locally based role as a police officer, sheriff, firefighter, or

EMT. (Children of administrative staff are not eligible.)

Children of reserve officers, part-time first responders, or retired from duty do not 

qualify.

Children of federal first responders do not qualify.

Benjamin Gilman Study Abroad Scholarship

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program offers grants for U.S. citizen undergraduate students of limited financial means to pursue academic studies or credit-bearing, career-oriented internships abroad.

Great Lakes Hemophilia Scholarship

The Career Development Scholarship provides funding assistance for tuition and enrollment fees relevant to continuing education in a non-traditional or non-degree format. This could include education programs that specialize in the skilled trades, applied sciences, modern technologies or career advancement. For example, classes in welding, accounting, dental hygiene or computer programs. This scholarship is intended to promote career development for those living with bleeding disorders. Home Renovation NYC Scholarship

 

Eligibility

Open to students in the U.S. or Canada pursuing or planning to pursue studies in Architecture, Urban Planning, Interior design, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Construction Management, or other related fields.

Essay Prompt:  "Imagine you're leading a home renovation project in NYC with the goal of making it eco-friendly and energy-efficient.  How would you redesign the space to promote sustainability without compromising comfort or style?"

Eligibility

​To be eligible for this scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at a United States college/university.
    • ​Incoming freshmen/high school seniors are not eligible to apply.
    • Freshmen are not eligible to apply for Summer and Fall quarters  but will be eligible in Winter and Spring quarters.
    • Seniors who will not be attending a United States graduate school are not eligible to apply for the Spring quarter.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) that can be supported by an unofficial college transcript. If your college does not use a 4.0 scale, please convert your GPA accordingly.
  • Pursuing a degree in one of the following fields: Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).

  • Students that have not previously won the SBB Research Group STEM Scholarship are able to re-apply and must submit a different essay for each subsequent application.

Innovation in Education Scholarship

Scholarship Qualifications:

  • Must currently be enrolled as a high school, college/university, or graduate student. • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (or the equivalent).
  • Must be a citizen of, permanent resident of, or hold an active F1 I-20 or active J1 DS - 2019 in the United States or Canada on the date of scholarship selection (25th of each month).
  • Must have designed an innovative project that makes a difference in the lives of others (This could be a website, series of blogs, an app, fundraising event, etc.)
  • Must submit an essay describing the goal of the particular project and provide supporting documentation. There is no minimum or maximum word/page count.
  • The essay, idea, or creation must be the applicant’s original work
  • All submissions must be uploaded no later than 11:59 pm PST on the 20th of each month. The submission window closes starting the 21st and will reopen on the 1st at 8:00 a.m. Students are welcome to reapply each month.
