Week One Session Descriptions

Below are the descriptions for our main Week One events. Some events sponsored by other departments or sessions led by WOO leaders are not listed but are included in individual schedules.

Sunday Events

Blue Rah! | Kick off the year at this fun, engaging, entertaining event meant to get you excited for your time here at Stout! There will be music, dancing, Minute to win-it and prizes!

You Rah! | As we kick off the year, celebrating the arrival of our new students to campus, Blue Rah offers an energy-packed program with music to dance to, trivia in the crowd, and some high-energy action leading up to our evening's speakers.  Although a great program, we recognize that Blue Rah can be overwhelming for some of our students with the event's heightened noise and stimuli.
You Rah offers the same sense of belonging as Blue Rah, but in a calmer environment with reduced lighting.  Staff and current students will welcome our new students to You Rah with a chance to sign up for a door prize and an opportunity to watch a live broadcast of Blue Rah on the screens.  Participants will watch the welcome to campus by our Orientation staff, Dean of Students, Chancellor, and more.

BDP Comedy: Ahmed Al-Khadri | Join us after Blue Rah in the Memorial Student Center's Great Hall to kick off the semester with a barrage of jokes, laughs, and fun provided by Comedian Ahmed Al-Khadri.

Monday Events

Keynote: Duncan Kirkwood | Be inspired to become a more resilient student, learner, and whole person through this interactive keynote address.

Get CONNECTed | Learn all about how to find ways that will connect you with other students, opportunities on campus, and cool activities. Discover the amazing upcoming opportunities and how to use the tools to find others throughout your time here at UW-Stout.

Your Wellbeing & Personal Success | Learn about services available through the Counseling Center and Student Health Services to maintain wellness and health on campus. Strategies for continued well-being throughout your college career will be reviewed.

Dollar for Dollar, Be a Savvy Scholar | We will explore the abundant free resources available on campus and around Menomonie. This session will empower students to enhance their college experience as well as maximize their time in Menomonie, all while saving their money.

Campus Safety & Security | Get to know your campus police and how they can help. Interim Chief Lisa Pederson will discuss, campus safety, active threat response, and other ways to protect yourself and have a great first-year experience.

Tuesday Events

Freedom of Expression | Join is in understanding your rights and responsibilities as a member of the Stout community in creating a campus where civil dialogue and discourse is valued.

Meet Your Advisor | All new first-year students will receive timely information from the Advisement Center staff that will be essential during your first semester at UW-Stout. Students received an email from their advisor with the location.

The C-word Consent | The C-Word: Consent is an interactive, educational program brought to you by the creators of the award-winning Mission iMPROVable and Shot of Reality. This program uses a combination of audience interaction, improv exercises, and thoroughly researched information to break down walls and have a frank, difficult, but needed conversation about sex.
