Let's Get Started!

Congratulations and welcome to UW-Stout, Wisconsin's Polytechnic University.
We know you're anxious to get a jump on your degree, but there are just a few minor things you'll want to get squared away first. The tips on this page, as well as the instructions in your graduate admissions letter, will help you get ready for your first day of class.

Remember: Admission to UW-Stout Graduate Studies is only valid for the term indicated in your admission letter. Please contact Graduate Studies for any changes at gradschool@uwstout.edu or 715-232-2211.

Before You Register

Now that you've been admitted to your UW-Stout graduate program, you'll want to take a few important steps as you prepare to register. As a reminder, make sure to complete all of the steps outlined in your admission letter, but before you register for classes, consider the following:

  • You must complete the Student Account Contract before you can register.
(A hold is automatically placed on your record each semester, which is removed after you complete the contract.)
  • You are highly encouraged to complete the eRefund.
While not required, completing the eRefund setup will streamline the refund process in the event you receive a refund.

Complete Your Student Account Contract

If you have activated your UW-Stout email, follow these steps to complete the Student Account Contract:

  • Log in to UW-Stout My Apps using your UW-Stout username and password and select Access Stout from the list of UW-Stout apps on the dashboard.
  • After you log in to Access Stout, click Self Service
  • Click Student Center
  • Under the To Do List, click Student Account Contract
  • Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the contract

If you have not activated your UW-Stout email, follow these steps to set up your email account and then complete the Student Account Contract:

  • Go to https://password.uwstout.edu
  • Click on Activate New Account (you must have your seven-digit Stout student ID number)
  • Follow the onscreen instructions to create your password and get your username
  • Once you have your username and password set, you can check your email at http://mail.my.uwstout.edu
  • After checking to make sure your email is activated, follow the steps listed above to complete the Student Account Contract

Complete Your eRefund Setup

While not required, completing the eRefund setup will expedite the transfer of funds to your bank account in the event you are owed a refund. Directions on how to complete the eRefund can be found at https://www.uwstout.edu/tuition-refunds.

If you have questions or need assistance with eRefund setup, please contact Student Business Services at sbservices@uwstout.edu or 715-232-1656.
