However, many faculty members and teachers face challenges in integrating AI while maintaining ethical standards and academic integrity.
AI for Educators is an expert-led course designed to build AI literacy among K-12 and higher education professionals. Through applied learning and real-world case studies, participants will explore how AI can support instruction, improve course development, and increase efficiency in the classroom. Educators will gain practical skills in AI applications, including prompt engineering, lesson automation, and AI-powered student engagement. Who are your instructors?
Emi Stuemke is an Associate Professor of Technical and Professional Communication at UW-Stout, where she has taught for ten years. She earned her PhD in Rhetoric and Literacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Emi teaches courses in scientific writing, technical communication, digital humanities, and AI literacy, and has included formal instruction on AI and algorithmic systems in her curriculum since 2012. Her work focuses on how emerging technologies shape communication practices and on the ethical design of AI within broader public and infrastructural systems.
Marty Weninger is a Teaching, Learning, and Technology specialist at UW Stout where he has served for three years. Prior to UW-UW-Stout, he was employed in manufacturing as a corporate trainer. Marty received his Master of Science in Training and Human Resource Development in 2020 from UW Stout and holds a certification in Instructional Design. His interest in technology instinctively made him curious in AI. In the past two years, Marty has led training in AI and has helped UW-Stout’s development of AI training.
