On-Campus Health and Safety

Living on-campus provides students with access to campus resources, staff, and peers to promote your health and success as a UW-Stout student. We are committed to keeping the residence halls a healthy and safe space for residents to live and learn, our shared effort to hold ourselves and our peers accountable to the guidance and protocols outlined below will help us achieve our goal.

By moving into your assigned room in University Housing, you understand and acknowledge that there are risks associated with communal living and, as in any shared living environment, those risks include potential exposure to contagious viruses, including the coronavirus. Residents are expected to fully comply with the expectations, protocols and guidelines outlined in this document. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, however every reasonable effort will be made to gain voluntary cooperation before engaging in the formal disciplinary process.

We hope to continue to provide you with the most current information we have available.  This page is designed to offer on-campus residents, and their families and friends, a better picture of what they can expect from University Housing and living on-campus. Vaccines and Boosters

  • We encourage you to get vaccinated against COVID-19, the seasonal flu, and follow guidance for booster shots. 
  • A monthly vaccine clinic will be held at UW-Stout during the fall semester. Clinics dates and times are located below, all are located in the Ballrooms, MSC, and you may register in advance here:
    • September 22nd from noon to 4:00pm
    • November 17th from noon to 4:00pm
    • December 2nd from 11:00am to 3:00pm
  • Other vaccine opportunities in Menomonie include:
  • Student Health Services will have influenza vaccine at no cost this fall by appointment.

Facemask Guidelines

  • We encourage you to bring several comfortable and well-fitting masks to use if needed.
  • The decision to wear a mask is a personal one. No one should face repercussions for their personal decision to mask or not mask.
  • We encourage you to consider wearing a well-fitting mask if you are sick or test positive for COVID-19. (See additional guidance about testing positive for COVID-19 below)
  • Campus has provided facemasks that are available at your residence hall front desk.

Testing for COVID-19

  • A Covid testing site will not be available on campus. 
  • We encourage you to bring tests from home or obtain tests through your insurance provider.
  • At-home antigen tests will be provided at your residence hall front desk. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, we encourage you to ask a floormate or friend to get one for you from the desk.
  • You may also schedule a PCR test at or Please note that insurance information may be required.
  • Thermometers will be available at your residence hall front desk.
  • If you are a student and need to see a health care provider, Student Health Services, operated by Prevea Health is available on campus at 103 1st Ave W (North Campus).  Call 715-232-1314 for an appointment. 

Isolation and Quarantine

  • If you test positive for a communicable disease:
    • In most cases, you may choose to go home, off-campus, or isolate in your residence hall room to complete your isolation period.
    • In some cases, your health care provider may have other recommendations.
    • If these options are not available for you, please ask to speak with your RLC by calling 715-232-3333 to coordinate alternative solutions.
  • If you test positive for COVID-19, please follow this link to the CDC website and follow “When to Isolate” for your recommended procedures.
    • If you are directed to "stay home" we encourage you to go home or off campus through the date they have recommended. If you are unable to go home or off-campus, you may stay in your room but we encourage you to wear a well-fitting mask through the date the CDC has recommended.
    • Identify and inform your close contacts that you have tested positive for COVID-19. A close contact is anyone that you were within 6-feet for cumulatively more than 15 minutes in a 24-hour period.
    • Follow the guidance from this website regarding when you may "leave your home" and when you may “remove your mask” after you have ended isolation.
    • For meals while in isolation, please see the "Recovery Meals" section below.
  • If you were exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19, please follow this link to the CDC website and follow the “After Being Exposed to COVID-19” guidance.

Recovery Meals

  • If a student is ill and unable to come to the cafeteria to eat meals, they have the option to purchase a meal through Dining Services. Students placing orders will utilize the Transact Mobile Ordering App and will be picked up by a roommate or friend. 
  • Recovery meals may be ordered during the following times: 7:00am-9:30am, and 10:00am-6:30pm Monday-Friday, 10:00am-1:00pm, and 4:00pm-6:00pm Saturday-Sunday. University Dining Services will prepare the meals in the Price Commons Cafeteria.  Students ordering meals will indicate the name of the person picking up the meal for them.
  • Students will be charged Dining Dollars prices for meals purchased. Breakfast meals will be $2, and Lunch and Dinner meals will be $3. Meals purchased will include a frozen, microwaveable meal, a bottle of water, choice of 3 sides, and a choice of additional beverage. 
  • Students should follow these steps when placing their recovery meal request:
    • Download the Transact Mobile Ordering App
    • Select “Cafeteria Recovery Meals” as your location to place your order
    • Select your desired entrée
    • Select your side(s) and beverage(s)
    • Select your residence hall
    • Enter your room number in that residence hall
    • Enter the name of the person picking up your order (see below)
    • Proceed to checkout to complete payment.
    • All meals will be ready for pick-up within 20 minutes of ordering
  • If you do not have a peer to pick up your meal for you, you may pick it up on your own.
    • North Point meals may be picked-up at the table outside of the entrance to the dining room.
    • Price Commons meals may be picked-up at the location indicated in the Transact App
